So it’s a good thing today was kind of an open day. Got laundry done. The main thing we wanted to do was to locally mail off the Covid tests that we purchased and brought from Hawaii at the UPS drop point for next-day air to meet our Covid test requirement to get back home. Problem was that they didn’t have next-day air at that West Yellowstone location for that day, Monday. That meant we had to either go up to Bozeman or down to Idaho Falls to an actual UPS store to make our deadline so that the kids wouldn’t have to quarantine for 10 days after flying back. Both were between an hour and a half to two hours away. We opted for Bozeman up north but not for any good reason. Here we dropped off our tests and looked for food.

Two places were closed and so we ended up at Burger Bobs on main street. Why is it so hard to spend money? I thought we live in a capitalist society. Right, right, Covid.

Burger Bob’s is on a main street filled with boutique shops and stores. Beyond this neighborhood are numerous strip malls and even further out are the more industrial businesses, whitewater rafting companies, and construction material depots.
So we ended up trying to make the most of it by geocaching…

Waiting in a ridiculously slow drive thru for Blizzards…

…And thrift shopping.

Task completed. Bozeman is located north of the park and so on our way back, we came through a small town named Gardiner. It was smaller than West Yellowstone. Really friendly looking. We stopped at the Roosevelt Arch.

As soon as we entered the park, we saw elk at the north entrance, where there’s a restaurant, post office, and gas station. You can also see remnants of the military control from 1886-1918.

The Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces nearby smelled like sulfur but were gorgeous to look at.

Covid tests done. Fut around another town, done. Back for sightseeing. Not ideal, but the day was done.

Another hot tub soak to end the day!
